RCCC Women's Group Yard Sale
The Women's Group of Risen Christ sponsored our first Yard Sale June 25th.
With help of the entire community it was a colossal success.
RCCC Women's Group Yard Sale
Early this winter, the Women's Group brainstormed ideas on how to hold a fundraiser which would benefit
Risen Christ and would also involve our church community and support some community outreach locally. The idea to
have a Community Yard Sale was born.
The members of the Risen Christ family took the time to clean out those garages and attics and came forward with
donations of treasures which filled classroom 4 several times over. Without the support of these donations the
yard sale could not have taken place.
The Women's Group members came together during every week of June to price and organize the items. Although this
effort at times seemed to overwhelm the Co-Chairs, Judy Townsend and Lindi Archer, the group took over and offered
ideas on how to accomplish this daunting task. Julie Bennison suggested sorting items as they came out of the room;
Marie White, Ann and Robin Willeman, and Nancy Stump organized the clothing; Sondra Becker, Martha Henry, Karin Loffer,
Shelly Malohn, Sue Helin and many others jumped in organizing kitchen, craft, and books to be sold; Julie Bennison and
Marie Glodowski organized the linen. Joanne Hanners, Angie Gumb, Nancy Tacke, Breege Orth helped out where ever was needed.
By 7 a.m. on the day of the sale the doors opened to our community. The Knights of Columbus came by to help with
heavy items, Mark Henry spent the night in his car watching sale items left out on the outside patio, Mike Townsend was
everywhere helping out, John Pettinger and Dale Anderson spent the day watching the outside patio area and other Knights
came and went throughout the day. Members of the Women's Group were on hand starting at 6 a.m. to assist with the sale.
Members from the youth along with Jackie Hopper and other volunteers sold refreshments to benefit the youth programs.
At the end of the day everyone was exhausted but satisfied that we did a good job. The social hall was cleaned up and
ready for Vacation Bible School on Sunday.
Those who benefited from the sale:
Nancy Tacke and funeral dinner committee will receive new tablecloths; funds were matched for the youth selling
refreshments; Women's and Children Alliance received better dress clothes to wear during job interviews; Corpus
Christie House received socks and clothing; Si, Se Puede received books and clothing; Saint Vincent's received
all remaining items. Additionally, we made $2000 for our Church's Building Fund!!!!!!! Thank You Everyone.
The motto of the Women's Group is "Christ Centered Faith and Fellowship". This event exemplified our mission and objectives.
