Social Justice Committee

Description
This ministry serves the community by coordinating parish social justice outreach activities. One major project involves soliciting appropriate candidates to apply for RCCC’s Social Justice Outreach grant (recipient agency receives 5% of parish’s annual collection); distributing/ collecting/ reviewing grant applications; recommending a grant applicant to the Parish Council/Pastor for selection; informing parishioners about the work of the non-profit organization; encouraging parishioners to volunteer time and talent; acting as a liaison between the parish and the grant recipient. Another major project involves coordinating the annual parish charity known as the Christmas Giving Wreath, distributing gifts donated by parishioners to needy individuals identified by current and past grant recipients. In addition, this committee encourages parishioners’ involvement in other social justice outreach activities in the Boise area, e.g., aid to refugees, sponsoring of peace/nonviolence workshops.

Requirements
Open to all parishioners. Must attend a 3 hour monthly meeting. Flexible scheduling available for other seasonal activities.
