Si, Se Puede!

RCCC Women’s Group

Formation                 ˇSi, Se Puede! Idaho, Inc. was incorporated in 2004 as a successor to Hosanna Ministries, Inc.  Hosanna Ministries was founded by Sylvia and Jim Blain in 1983.  For two decades it functioned as a small family-run ministry providing food, clothing and household items to the approximately 1,200 residents at Farmway Village in Caldwell, Idaho.

Ministry                     ˇSi, Se Puede! Idaho, Inc. is a tax-exempt Section 501(c) (3)  organization founded in 2004 to improve lives, empower and bring parity to poor migrant workers, primarily those at Farmway Village in Caldwell and Chula Vista in Wilder.  It does so by fulfilling basic needs, providing access to educational programs and access to resources, and celebrating Latino community, culture and heritage. It continues the mission of Hosanna Ministries, in a secular rather than ministerial role.

The organization has recently shifted its emphasis to education of English Language Learners (ELL) and their parents/caregivers.  The new name, based on Cesar Chavez’s famous cry, “ˇSi, Se Puede!” (Yes We Can!), better expresses the expanded vision.

Membership             The new organization of ˇSi, Se Puede! has an emerging capacity to engage volunteers in:

·        Information technology:  restore donated computers for classroom use and home placement

·        ELL:  teachers, teachers’ aides and on-on-one helpers.  Those with bilingual skills are particularly sought for work with non-English speaking constituents

·        Computer literacy aides in Kuna

·        Administration:  publicists and finance

Organization            ˇSi, Se Puede! is incorporated with a 7 member Board of Directors.  Sylvia Rel Blain serves both as Executive Director and President of the Board.

Meetings                   Board meetings are conducted as needed.
